How to Keep Your Baby Comfortable and Crib Mattress Dry

Having two kids, I've tried a number of crib mattress cover. The latest one I've tried is the best of the bunch. It's from the Amy Carinn Collection and has everything that a good mattress cover needs -- there is even one for pack 'n plays and mini cribs! The standard crib cover fits toddler beds, too. Don't forget to enter the GIVEAWAY and check out the coupon code at the bottom of the post!

The mattress covers from the Amy Carinn Collection impressed me the moment I opened the box. The covers are incredibly soft and padded, without being too thick. The fabric is silky and quilted. Babies (and toddler with toddler beds) end up with a bit of extra padding and softness without it being so thick it's unsafe. They are waterproof AND shrink resistant. The special heat protection layer keeps them from shrinking in the dryer. With any of the other (many) covers I've tried, I've had to line dry each or they shrink horribly. How much easier it is to be able to throw the mattress cover in the dryer is a big plus for me. Especially when I'm going through them rapidly with a baby so really don't have the time to wait for one to line dry. I'm sure it'll be just as handy when M2 is potty training and I need to swap her linens often from accidents. The adorable owl logo and cute packaging is an extra cherry on the sundae.
The covers come in two kinds, either Micro Fiber Plus or Bamboo Plus. Both types are hypoallergenic and breathable, along with the other features I've mentioned. They're also not noisy. No loud, annoying crinkle sounds from the waterproof layer while baby B is trying to sleep from these covers. The waterproof layer itself is latex, phthalate, BPS and lead free -- something most covers you find can't say, yet is so important in a good, quality cover. The top fabric is peach micro fiber, the filling polyester and the skirt poly knit on the micro fiber covers (the ones I reviewed myself). The bamboo version is a new edition to the collection, made from unbleached and un-dyed bamboo. Everything else about it is the same, so it should be just as awesome as the Micro Fiber Plus ones I tried! The prices are great as well.

My absolute favorite feature of the covers is the size, though. Almost every single other brand of cover I've ever tried, the top part either doesn't cover from end to end or the skirt is too short so the corners are barely covered. Throw them in the dryer, then even the ones that weren't to small to start then were. A few covered so little I was afraid the whole thing would pop off during the night -- totally unsafe! -- so I returned them. M2 and B only have standard mattresses, so this shouldn't be an issue. The Amy Carinn Collection ones are perfect. The top part covers everything. There is even a little extra that goes over the sides. The skirt is long, covering the edges plenty. It fits tightly, too. I have no worries at all that one of these is going to pop off while the kids are sleeping!

I also love how the Amy Carinn Collection donates a cover to Operation Shower for each Amazon verified purchase review they get. If you haven't head of them before, Operation Shower is a non-profit organization that helps provide baby showers for military families with a deployed parent-to-be.
